The IT Services #FacesOfPinnacle team attended Sophos' annual partner conference, "Sophos Discover 2019", in Manchester from Wednesday 29th May to Friday 31st May.
Delegates were welcomed at the Victoria Warehouse and treated to lots of Sophos goodies such as hats, bags and of course the infamous Sophos socks!
The event kicked off with a warm welcome to the channel partners from Kris Hagerman, CEO, Sophos. The theme for this years' conference was 'Evolve', Kris spent some time discussing how crucial it is for Cyber Security to evolve at a pace which is one step ahead of increasingly sophisticated malware.
"in the struggle for survival, the fittest win at the expense of their rivals because they succeed in adapting themselves best to their environment" - Charles Darwin
Delegates also head from Sophos executives Dan Schiappa, Chief Products Officer and James Vyvyan, Regional VP EMEA sales.
Day 1 wrapped up with a thrilling evening hosted at the iconic Imperial War Museum where we enjoyed great food, entertainment and an opportune time to network with fellow partners and the teams from Sophos. A great time to put names to faces and catch up with our wonderful Sophos Account Manager, Monika Piasecka,
Beginning day 2 with a delicious breakfast at the Hilton Doubletree in Manchester, and a Sophos Coffee to go of course, we were back at the Victoria Warehouse for a full day of informative breakout sessions and round table talks.
Some of the informative breakout sessions we attended included "Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) Innovations: Find the Gap". This session showcased the latest innovations & capabilities within Intercept X and EDR. We also attended sessions on XG Firewall innovations and Cloud Security.
Sophos really know how to deliver engaging and informative break out sessions! We took a lot away from these sessions and are excited about the new releases and year ahead.
One of the highlights of the day was a Keynote session from Alexis Conran, best known from his time on the BBC’s hit TV show The Real Hustle. Alexis delivered a charismatic and engaging keynote, showcasing his knowledge of the dark and deceptive world of hustling, con-artists and pickpockets. He also discussed how to protect yourself and your business against them. Alexis also treated us to an onstage show revealing one of the most popular on the street scams called 'Three-card Monte'.
In preparation for the evening event, the Sophos Channel Partners were sent back to their hotel for an hour to get ready. When we returned to the Victoria Warehouse, we were greeted by a blue carpet entrance and drinks reception. The event venue had been 'evolved' (keeping in with the theme of the conference) within the hour into a great party venue with a bar, food stalls, stage, ping pong games and laser quest - just to name a few.
This was all followed up with a live drumming performance and a great opportunity to network with other partners and members of Sophos.
Sophos certainly didn't hold back when putting on an evening event for their partners, it was an event for the memory bank.
