Sage 200 Support Developer Consultant


As a Sage 200 Support Developer, you will collaborate closely with our Customer Account Manager (CAM), New Customer Acquisition (NCA) and Pinnacle Direct teams as well as our customers to deliver high-quality solutions that enhance business processes and drive efficiencies. You will report directly to the ERP Development Project Lead

Key responsibilities

  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for Sage 200 software issues.
  • Investigate and resolve errors, bugs and performance issues reported by users.
  • Manage support tickets and communicate solutions to end-users or customers.
  • Apply patches, updates and upgrades as needed.
  • Document technical solutions, user guides, and operational procedures.
  • Update internal knowledge bases with FAQs and troubleshooting steps.
  • Assist in integrating Sage 200 with third-party applications or ERP extensions.
  • Work with APIs and middleware to enable smooth data exchange.
  • Test new features, updates, or customizations to ensure stability and compatibility.
  • Debug issues and run test cases for any developments or modifications.
  • Follow best practices in software development and database management.
  • Take the lead on a number of projects liaising with the customer directly throughout the project timeline
  • Have extensive knowledge of the Sage 200 SDK
  • Attend client meetings and represent the company virtually or face to face, including, presentations to new clients to help win new business.
  • Create specification documents, identifying the customers key objectives via scoping and full requirements gathering exercises
  • Working from a project proposal or specification document create programming code, either from scratch or by adapting existing software to meet the project brief on time and on budget.
  • As a software developer you will sometimes act as the technical lead on a project and be responsible for the project team, reporting directly to one of the company directors as agreed at the project onset.
  • You will also use of a variety of other technologies during the course of completing a project including C#, VB, SQL, XML, Win Form Applications, API / Web Services and ASP.NET, with experience in development environments such as Visual Studio and SQL Server Management Studio.
  • Support the development of Pinnacle product portfolio
  • Support Managed IT Services (MITS) in relation to the customer's server set-up or hardware to support the install and running of bespoke development
  • Keep up to date with advances in technologies linked to Sage 200 and how this affects the business environment. You will be expected to help ensure the company is kept abreast of technological advances.
  • You will be expected to be flexible and learn new technologies as needed based on business requirements
  • Adhere to, and sometimes develop as directed, company coding standards
  • Ensure testing of all code is carried out before deployment and testing plans are adhered to
  • Be responsible for and help with the deployment of Sage 200 upgrades where bespoke development is involved
  • Develop additional sales leads and revenues from new and existing customers
  • You may sometimes be asked to travel to meet clients or carry out work remotely. This may include overnight stays, when the company will cover the cost of travel and accommodation, providing all necessary expense documents are submitted in a timely fashion.
  • Attend internal staff meetings as required
  • Attend training courses as needed
  • Meet personal and team objectives / KPIs set with divisional director

The Ideal candiate

The ideal candidate is a seasoned software developer with deep technical expertise in Sage 200 and a solid grasp of business processes. They are equally comfortable writing complex bespoke code, leading technical projects, and engaging with clients in both technical and consultative roles. A natural collaborator, this candidate thrives in cross-functional teams and has the communication skills needed to translate client requirements into technical solutions.

Technical Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on experience with Sage 200 development, including customisation and integration.

  • Proficient in C#, VB.NET, SQL Server, and REST/SOAP APIs.

  • Experience with Sage 200 SDK, scripting, reporting (e.g., Crystal Reports), supporting and data migration.

  • Demonstrated experience in full software development life cycle (SDLC): requirements gathering, development, testing, deployment, and support.

  • Comfortable supporting Managed IT Services in server and hardware configuration related to Sage 200 environments.

  • Adept at identifying, scoping, and implementing bespoke development projects.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking, with an ability to quickly adapt to changing requirements.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
