Exchange Web Services (EWS) Retirement – Draycir
Exchange Web Services (EWS) Retirement – Draycir
You should have recently received communication from Draycir regarding Microsoft’s upcoming retirement of Exchange Web Services (EWS). Microsoft will begin this process from 1 October 2026, ahead of EWS being fully disabled in April 2027.
Who will be affected?
The EWS retirement will only affect you if:
- You use Spindle Document Distribution or Spindle Document Management (including where these form part of Spindle or CreditHound).
- Your software version is between 8.15.x and 10.15.x.
- You use the default Exchange/Office 365 (Microsoft) distribution method.
If this applies to you, there are two parts to the solution.
1. Action required before 1 October 2026
We need you and your IT department or Office 365 Administrator to take action before 1 October 2026 to allow EWS to continue operating. This will give Draycir and Pinnacle sufficient time to deploy the necessary patch to your environment before EWS is fully disabled in April 2027.
Microsoft has published guidance explaining the steps required to allow EWS to continue running:
Exchange Online EWS, Your Time is Almost Up | Microsoft Community Hub
Take control of your EWSAllowedAppIDs list before EWS access changes
If Pinnacle is your Office 365 Administrator, you do not need to take this action yourself. We will complete the necessary steps on your behalf before October.
2. Deployment of the Draycir patch
Draycir and Pinnacle will work together to ensure the required patch is deployed to your site before EWS is fully disabled in April 2027.
