This month we are getting to know our Sage 200 support consultant Ian Hill. Ian has been working within the Sage industry for 10 years but with Pinnacle exclusively for 2, he is based in our Belfast office.
- Tell us about your background?
I have a Degree from Queens University of Belfast and a Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting from the University of Ulster. I have been supporting Sage 200, Sage Payroll, Sage Construct, Sage Retail and Sage Micropay products for 10 years. - In a nutshell, what do you do?
My role involves picking up support issues that appear on our support desk application. The most important part of my job is to give a customer a quick response to their issues and a successful solution. We do prioritize issues that are business critical, for example, if a site is down and unable to use Sage. We can quickly and easily remote to a customer’s site and get access to problem PCs and servers.
Since I joined Pinnacle my skills and knowledge have increased. Not only do I have knowledge of Sage 200 and its 3rd party add on’s but I have also gained knowledge of the hardware network requirements for Sage 200 from our IT infrastructure department. Pinnacle gives the Sage 200 Support team the knowledge to be a one stop shop for support. - What are the best bits of the job?
Being able to help customers gives me a sense of achievement. I enjoy speaking to our customers who are in a wide range of industry sectors. No two issues are the same, and having to tailor the best solutions for our customers knowing that it will help them have a successful business is a great. - What do you like about Sage 200?
Sage 200 is always evolving and improving, with yearly releases from Sage, which enables me to continuously develop new skills to help our customers. - What’s the best thing that has happened to you at Pinnacle so far?
Pinnacles Christmas parties are pretty amazing, having them in historic places such as Titanic Belfast. Working with a highly skilled Sage 200 support team has been invaluable. If you are struggling with problem you will always have a colleague to call on for help is priceless. - What is the one thing about you that might surprise people?
I enjoy sports and keeping fit. I enjoy playing football, tennis and often take part in local park runs. - What is the one thing about you that might surprise people?
I played football at Old Trafford.
