The Ransomware Threat
February 6, 2019 | News
What is Ransomware?
Ransomware is a type of malicious software (also know as Malware) which encrypts files on your computer
or even across a network rendering the files inaccessible and therefore useless.
The malware will then display a message on the screen to you indicating what has happened
with instructions on how to make payment to decrypt and access your files.
However, since they are criminals they may or may not give you back your information.
How do you get it?
There are several different ways that ransomware can infect your computer or network.
Some of the most common forms of delivery is through phishing emails which contain the malware either
through attachments or links to malicious websites and when accessed runs a java script to download the ransomware.
The criminals are getting more sophisticated by constantly developing the malware.
How to get protected?
It is important to get protected as your business can come to a standstill because of an IT issue such as ransomware.
Getting a business up and running again after an attack can be extremely complicated and time consuming but
easily avoided if adequate protection is in place.
