In 2015, Tortilla added six new restaurants in the UK – having opened eight in 2014 – while turnover rose by £6m, following £5m of growth the previous year. Over the next two years, Tortilla plans to open a further 20 restaurants, taking the company’s restaurant footprint to almost 50 locations.
Against this backdrop of fast, consistent growth, Tortilla needed an ERP solution which provided clarity above all else. The increasing number of locations meant rapidly rising volumes of information to process for the central finance team, and this growth was only set to accelerate.
The most immediate need was for automated reporting, in order to support regular, indepth analysis of the business’s health. This was a critical factor in sustaining and examining the company’s swift growth plans. Previously, the finance team had also relied on Excel documents for much of its analysis, so the solution also needed to integrate well with Excel, in order to smooth the transition to a new, scalable system.
